The Importance Of Resizing Images Correctly
It is very important to resize your images correctly. To resize a large image some people click  and drag on the image to decrease it to the size they want. This only change the demensions not the actual file size. You will need to understand how to do this the right way, if your images are too large they will take a very long time to download and your prospect will click away.

To resize your images you will need to use measurements such as Kilobytes, Megabytes and Gigabytes.
 1000 kilobytes = 1 megabyte
1000 megabyte = 1 gigabyte
If you are using images onto your webpage or in your ebooks and you have several of them it is best to keep your images below 100 kilobytes but not too small as to change the quality of the image.

There are 2 main types of image files that are used:
 1. JPEG pronounced (jay-peg)
2. GIF pronunced (giff)
JPEG gives a better quality and clarity.
To check the size of an image place the cursor on your image and click the right side of your mouse, a box will appear. At the bottom of the window click on Properties another window will open. Where it says size you will see the size of your image.
To change the size of your images you will need to download a FREE image resizing tool called Irfanview. This software is used by millions of people all the time. When you use Irfanview and change the dimensions the file size of your image is automatically changed.

Making the size of you image smaller
After downloading the software double click file on the menu bar then click open. Navigate to find the image you would like to resize. Double click on the image then click 'image' on the menu bar then click Resize/Resample another window will open.
Where it says set new size make sure that the 'circle' is checked and the word 'pixels' is checked. In the box that says 'Height' type 300 'Width' will be 213. Check the box that says 'Preserve Aspect Ratio'. Where it says 'DPI' (dots per inch) keep it at 300.
Check the 'circle' that says 'Resample' and click OK. The image is now smaller.

To save the new image Click 'File' then 'Save As.' Make sure to select the JPEG format. If it is not selected automatically then click the dropdown arrow and select JPG. Check the box that says 'show options dialog.'
A window opens to the right. there is a fader bar at the top to change the quality of the image. 100 quality is good but you can experiment with it. If you have saved your image and do not want to delete it you can save this one as smaller or give it another name.
In your folder right click on the smaller image or new image click properties and you will now see the new size of your image.
