Chronic boils normally does not take place in the initial stages. Also known as hidradenitis suppurativa, boils infection is caused by bacterium Staphylococcus Aureus. This bacterium enters a person through cuts or scratches and cause wounds. Slowly, boils develop, increases in size and gets filled with pus. When such kind of boils persists for a longer period and recur several times, the roots of the infection goes deep into the skin. This way, the infection turns chronic and need immediate attention to prevent further spread of the disease.
Symptoms of chronic boils:
It is easy to identify a boil as it is a hard, red, painful lump. It appears less than an inch in size during its initial stages. But after some days, the lump becomes soft, large and more painful that expels pus. This formation can continue to enlarge and then bursts open to allow the pus to drain.
In some cases, it gradually gets reabsorbed into the skin and gets cured by itself without leaving any scars. But when it persists for a long period and becomes too large in size, it may turn chronic. That means it remains in a dormant stage and can spread to other areas or bloodstream and the patient may develop fever.
Causes of chronic boils:
Chronic boils are mainly caused due to bacteria\'s that enter through any kind of skin opening such as a wound or any cut. It infects the wound or a hair follicle and results in boils formation.
People with weak immune system easily get boils infection. For example, patients suffering from deadly diseases like AIDS and diabetes commonly suffer from severe boils.
Sometimes, starvation also causes persistent boils. As the individual doesn\'t receive sufficient nutrition, his/her body doesn\'t have adequate immune system to fight against the attack of boils bacteria.
Besides, improper and unhygienic living and constant contact with germs leads to boils infection. Persons with careless attitude who doesn\'t keep their skin clean are easily susceptible to recurrent boils.
How to cure chronic boils:
Boils are contagious and thus it is advised to keep away from a person with boils infection. It is not healthy to come in contact with their daily used materials like towel, cloths, saving items and other things. Usually, home based remedies are applied to cure boils. But in case of chronic boils, it is important to have immediate medicinal treatment by a physician to get rid of chronic boils.
