Latin Name : Albizzia lebbeck (Linn) Benth Pennel
A deciduous erect spreading tree commonly growing at road side throughout India from the plains upto 900 m in Himalaya. Bark of the tree is used for various ailments
in Ayurveda.
Application
Use of Shireesha has been extensively recommended to neutralize toxins in the body. It has also been used in the treatment of respiratory afflictions like bronchial
asthma. Based on various experimental and clinical observations use of Sirish bark in the form of a herbal tea for asthmatic persons has been recommended. Such
usage help to control the frequency and intensity of the asthmatic attacks.
Chemical Composition
Bark contains tannins and pseudotannins, friedelin b-sitosterol. Saponins based on echinocystic acids has been reported from the seeds.
